Death Heaven - Techno Decomposition World

Been getting more and more extreme stuff from Italy these days, so it seems the Death/Black scene there is really taking off. I was not too impressed with the cover of this demo, and I was pretty sure it was going to bite my ass. But Death Heaven have actually managed some pretty darned good Death Metal. This is obviously very influenced by US bands like Nile, Malevolent Creation, and Deicide, though Death Heaven are not as frenetic as those comparisons would imply. No, there is nothing here deathheads have not heard a zillion times before, but as always, it's all about execution. What will get your attention and hold it is the viciousness this band brings to their playing and the heads-down brutality of the riffage. They do have a tendency to go on a bit, and tracks like the ten-minute "Sunday Of War" don't really have a reason to go on that long, but they never get dull. All in all Death Heaven have ripped out a nice underground slice of death. Nothing original, but heavy, brutal, and thoroughly enjoyable. A band to watch.
